The Ivy Spinningfields has confirmed the extent to which Friday’s fire has damaged the building. Bosses have revealed that as a thank you to Manchester for their continued support, they will be holding a ‘super party’ in April, which is open to the public.
On Friday 4th January, Manchester’s newest and most lavish restaurant, The Ivy Spinningfields caught fire. With a shocking blaze which could be seen through the roof of the building at around 5.30 in the evening, Manchester Fire Crew had contained and extinguished the flames at around 6pm.
With the first official report coming through on Friday at 8pm.
“The fire at the Ivy Spinningfields was quickly and very efficiently contained by the excellent work of the Fire Services. The fire was limited to part of the roof and the building was evacuated in a calm and timely manner. We are already working to repair the top floor damage, all other areas of the building are unaffected. We will make a statement in the next 24 hours with details of reopening.”
The following day, The Ivy bosses revealed that they’re now planning a ‘super party’ in April, in a bid to thank customers and neighbours for their ongoing support since the launch in November.
This statement said: “Thank you for all your kind messages of support regarding yesterday’s unfortunate fire at The Ivy Spinningfields.
“The fire was contained in one section of The Roof Garden thanks to the excellent work of the Greater Manchester Fire Services who have informed us that the building is now totally safe to occupy.
“Whilst work starts to refurbish and repair any damage done to The Roof Garden, the ground floor Ivy Brasserie and Ivy Asia on the second floor are completely unaffected by the fire and will continue to operate as usual.
“All reservations will be honoured, we are planning to reopen The Roof Garden on the top floor towards the end of February and will of course notify everyone as soon as the date is ‘solid’.”
The Ivy statement ended with exciting news about a “Super Party” being planned at the venue, and details of how you can apply to attend.
It said: “As a thank you for the very warm welcomes that Manchester has given us since we opened on 27th November, we are planning a Super Party on Friday 12th April, encompassing the entire building and outside areas.
“Please put your names on the list by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you again Manchester, we love being here.”
