The newest restaurant to adorn Manchester’s most luxurious quarter, The Ivy, is currently alight.
Everyone is reportedly out and safe, but the blaze is yet to subside.
The restaurant has only been open for business since November 27th, 2018, but has seen a massive amount of success in its few short weeks.
The cause of the fire is yet unknown.

“The fire at the Ivy Spinningfields was quickly and very efficiently contained by the excellent work of the Fire Services. The fire was limited to part of the roof and the building was evacuated in a calm and timely manner. We are already working to repair the top floor damage, all other areas of the building are unaffected. We will make a statement in the next 24 hours with details of reopening.”
It is thought the fire in the three-storey building on Hardman Square in Spinningfields started from a patio heater on an outdoor roof terrace. This is yet to be confirmed officially.
Senior firefighters are heading inside with Management to inspect the damage.
Four fire engines from Manchester Central, Salford and Stretford as well as the aerial appliance from Stretford used three breathing apparatus and one hose reel to extinguish the fire.
A ventilation fan was used to clear the smoke. Three crews will remain at the scene this evening, to dampen down.
The fire is reported to be fully out, leaving considerable damage to the roof of the building in its wake. We’re awaiting a statement from the team.
The fire has been contained but not yet extinguished. The cause is still unconfirmed.
