The Oxford Street hangout will kick off the Bank Holiday fun with a takeover from the Whitworth Art Gallery in The Den and The Courtyard of The Refuge on Saturday. Saturday will also include the return of The Refuge’s Kids Social, with a next-level playtime for children to do some lino printing and circus activities from 10am to midday. These exciting events could be brand-new take on family time over the Bank Holiday weekend.
Onto Sunday 26 May, it’s time to get crafty with the Stitched Up Clothes Swap and Wardrobe Surgery in The Basement. The Manchester based on-profit organisation will offer tips and tricks for a more sustainable lifestyle and swapping unwanted clothing or refreshing them at the alterations bar. This event will be free of charge, but donations to the charity are more than welcome. Guests are encouraged to bring up to ten items of clothing.
Sunday is all about appearances, with expert make-up masterclasses from 11am and a pop-up shop with cosmetics giant, Urban Decay, which will take place in The Refuge’s Den. This one will cost you £10 per masterclass, but the price is redeemable on the day against any products and there are student and make-up artist discounts available.
There’s more! Dr Sid’s Summer Riviera with Lord Chester and Dom Blood & Fire will be providing the soundtrack to your weekend in The Courtyard and Public Bar. Expect to hear sounds of cocktail jazz, swing music and roots and reggae from Refuge’s resident DJs.
