MCR Fashion Festival is a wonderful celebration of Manchester’s creative and fashionable credentials. With a fine focus on our forever evolving fashion industry, the festival showcases both global designers and our city’s own growing collection of rising stars – of whom the city is so proud.
With glamour and panache, the festival is not a only breath-taking platform that exhibits some of the finest global designers to come out of Manchester; the show also debuts the industry’s newest arrivals en-scene.
With a ‘Metallic Movement’ theme (inspired by both the Industrial Revolution and the Women’s Rights Movement, both of which were key historical moments for Manchester), the venue at Cloud 23 will be dressed according to the theme, and guests are invited to join by adding metallic accessories to their outfits, or to go full ‘Met Gala’ and embrace the theme from head to toe.
Billed as the biggest fashion event outside of the capital, MCR Fashion Festival will showcase a number of collections straight off the London Fashion Week catwalk. The night is also led by ambassadors such as Zeynep Kartal and Coronation Street star/fashion graduate Bhavna Limbachia.
Bhavna Limbachia says, “Manchester should have the exposure it deserves and needs for being one of the UK’s biggest fashion capitals. There’s so much cultural history behind Manchester’s fashion industry.”
The fabulous Zeynep Kartal, who loves Manchester and everything it stands for, delves into the creative process behind this year’s designs, “This year, my collection was inspired by Barbra Streisand and calls for action on women’s heart health. The collection is all red in colour, and calls for a raise in awareness on women’s heart health, as this is very important to me.”
Zeynep will showcase her most recent Spring/Summer 2020 fashion collection after another stellar year for the Manchester-based design talent. She has proudly dressed a number of celebrities including Lady Gaga, Cheryl Cole, Amanda Holden and Tess Daley, and is also known for her glamorous evening gowns and sophisticated tailoring.
She’ll be joined at the festival by Mena Hamoodi, another favourite of the celebrity circles. She showcased at the 2018 event as a Rising Star, and has since gone on to have her designs worn by a number of stars. She was also featured in OK!Magazine.
As her first ever catwalk production, Aneetha Kumar will be also there on the evening, showcasing her collections from her fashion brands, Native Youth and Neon Rose. She can’t wait for the event, and says, “This is my first catwalk show, so it’s pretty exciting. I’m really looking forward to showing what the brand’s got to offer, what the brand is made of, and just bringing it to life really. We’ve won young fashion brand of the year twice now, so it’s all about moving us forward. We’re really proud to be known as a Manchester-based brand.”
There will also be a special showcase from Manchester-based fashion house Forever Unique – the glitzy brand created by Real Housewives of Cheshire star, Seema Malhotra and her family, and JUNQ Couture, who say, “After taking part last year, we’re so excited to be invited back again. It’s such a privilege to be working with such talented hard working people. It’s always a pleasure meeting other local Manchester based designers and brands and supporting each other’s creativity. Each year, the event has got bigger and better. We can’t wait to see what RealPR and MCR Fashion Festival have in store for us this year!”
We’re really excited to reveal that the stellar line up for MCR Fashion Festival has now been announced, as The Wanted star, Max George will be performing his latest single following a recent come-back on the music scene. West End favourite/Coronation Street & the Royals star, Victoria Ekanoye, will be performing with her amazing voice, as well as rising music star and owner of the incredible Honey I’m Home Interior Company, Madison Anastasia. Furthermore, Brazilian band, Baiana, a favourite within the premier league, will also be playing… along with surprises on the night.
