Manchester’s biggest student event, the Student Social, is returning on Tuesday 24 September to welcome students to Manchester with a huge range of discounts and offers available throughout the city centre.
Stores and restaurants will be welcoming new and returning students to Manchester with over 200 exclusive offers at the student shopping extravaganza, the MCR Student Social.
The annual event will take place on 24 September where students can take advantage of more offers than ever before along with a host of entertainment along Market Street and inside Manchester Arndale. TOTUM, the UK’s #1 student discount and proof of age ID card, is sponsoring this year’s event and will be hosting a mini festival outside Urban Outfitters and bringing its giant dome to Manchester Arndale for an epic treasure hunt!
Some stores are really getting into the spirit – GAP are offering the biggest discount of 40% off for students on the night, free tote bags at Levi’s, Fossil and Claire’s. The Body Shop, Jack Wills and Framed Opticians are offering 25% off with almost all other stores offering 20% off to students. High Street and designer clothing stores will be taking part in the event, from Adidas, All saints and DKNY and Footasylum, French Connection and Michael Kors to Monki, Office, River Island and Ted Baker.
Manchester’s top department stores are also getting in on the action. Selfridges is hosting an evening of unique experiences and fantastic discounts, while Harvey Nichols is offering an exclusive 10% discount with live DJ sets and complimentary drinks. Debenhams will be showcasing the latest in hair, beauty and fashion trends on its Masterclass Stage alongside demonstrations and tutorials in store. Debenhams will also be offering gifts with purchases, hosting games and giveaways with live music and 20% off purchases.
If students are after the top beauty buys in Manchester, they can take 15% off at The Fragrance Shop and The Perfume Shop, while Paul’s Hair & Beauty World, Boots and Superdrug after offering 10% off.
Bars and restaurants through the city centre will be dishing out exclusive discounts for students. There will be 99p burritos at Barburrito, half-price pizza at Bella Italia, 40% off Pizza Hut and 30% off at Sam’s Chop House, Mrs Sarah’s Chop House and McDonalds. There’s also a massive variety of offers in some of everyone’s favourite places like Five Guys, Nando’s and Starbucks.
The MCR Student Social will also be hosting a lineup of events and entertainment down Market Street and at Manchester Arndale from 12pm – 7pm, including a roaming band and a mini festival with DJs, giveaways, glitter and more outside Urban Outfitters.
On Market Street, students can win facial treatments and prizes with Kiehls’ ‘Spin the Wheel’, experience fun and thrills to win burgers at Almost Famous’ pop-up, The Unfairground, visit the Jagermeister van where Reform Radio will be doing a live broadcast and win prizes and vouchers from Pizza Express including free pizza for a year!
At Manchester Arndale, TOTUM will be hosting a treasure hunt with a difference inside a giant ball dome in Exchange Court. Each game will see 8 players get one minute to find a prize in the ball pit. Students can also head to Manchester Arndale’s food court for more entertainment from a live DJ set, with loads of meal deals and sweet treats on offer there.
