Manchester’s The Ivy Spinningfields has raised almost £50,000 for The Fire Fighters Charity, following a blaze on the bar’s rooftop in January.
Last month The Ivy Spinningfields hosted the Manchester Super Party to raise funds for The Fire Fighters Charity and to thank the Greater Manchester Fire Department as well as the people of Manchester for their support since the fire.
Laura Bamber is the Operations Director at The Ivy Collection and will present a cheque today for £47,000 to Andrew Best, Charity Trustee of the Fire Fighters Charity and Assistant Chief Fire Officer, Leon Parkes.
She said: “We are delighted to be supporting The Fire Fighters Charity, as well as with the amount raised through ticket donations. We wanted to say thank you to the fire department for everything they did for The Ivy Spinningfields back in January – we are truly grateful and the work they do within the community is unfounded.”
The Fire Fighters Charity helps to support the everyday heroes at the Greater Manchester Fire Dept. when they need it most.
On 12 April, the rooftop bar held a re-opening called The Ivy Circus, proceeds from which will be donated to the charity.
Leon Parkes said: “This is a fantastic sum of money that I know will go a long way in helping former and serving firefighters. It is only down to donations like this that The Firefighters Charity can do their work so I would like to thank everyone who donated and helped raise the money.”
He added: “On the night our Firefighters were quickly on the scene and were able to get the fire under control and extinguish it. They deserve nothing but praise for their work that night and we all appreciate the fundraising that has been done as thanks.”
