Fashion brand ‘Isabella Le Miliae’ was born in Manchester one sunny afternoon. The dream-child of two hardworking friends, Renata Andriusyte and Juan Abdallah came together over a mutual love of style and creativity.
Crafted in luxurious silks and soft billowy textures, Isabella Le Miliae strives to create beautiful kimonos which work throughout all four seasons. Versatile and easy to wear, Reneta and Juan wanted to create staple pieces which change the perception of the kimono.
Feeling that the kimono is often overly stereotyped as a beachy piece, the girls are out to prove that the Isabella Le Miliae kimono is timeless and worth investing in.
Constructed with silk due to its protein structure, the fabrics are resistant against dirt. They also have hypoallergenic qualities that feature natural heat regulation and keep your skin cool in the summer but warm through winter.
Their versatility makes them perfect for a plethora of events. Float around Glastonbury Festival this summer in the colourful ‘Serafina’, featuring a tiger print motif and sparkles of gold, throw the black ‘Sabrina’ kimono on over a slip at the races for a little extra elegance, or layer the ‘Cascata’ over a bikini at the beach or by the pool for a pretty cover-up.
Imaginative and unique, the story behind this brand is just as extraordinary as the pieces themselves.
At the tender age of six, Juan and her family were forced to leave their home in Kurdistan due to perilous living conditions caused by the war in Iraq. They lived in the Netherlands until she reached the age of fourteen, when her family moved to Manchester – in the hope of providing their children the best possible education.
Juan went on to study Fashion Design at Salford University, whilst holding down a job as a sales assistant at Hugo Boss, which was just next to the Max Mara concession where Reneta was working at the time.
Renata moved to England from Lithuania at the age of seventeen. Working first at Russell and Bromley, she hoped to save money in order to follow her ambitions of studying the UK.
After a couple of set-backs, Renata was determined in the pursuit of her dream and after some hard grafting, she received an unconditional offer from Manchester Metropolitan University. Here, she graduated with a first in Business Enterprise and HRM and also represented MMU in the Young Enterprise North West competition, wherein her team win an award for ‘Best Written Business Report’.
A testament of willpower in the face of adversity, we love covering stories like this on One Manchester. A beautiful British fashion brand, born and nurtured in Manchester, Isabella Lè Miliae has already received influencer and public support – we can’t wait to see where the brand grows next.
