A luxurious New York inspired Hotel Brooklyn is set to open spring 2020, right in the heart of Manchester.
Following the success of Hotel Gotham, the jewel of King Street, Bespoke Hotels have unveiled plans for a whole new 191-room boutique hotel, Hotel Brooklyn, which is set to open on Portland Street, next to the Townhouse Hotel (also now owned by Hotel Gotham).
Currently under construction, Hotel Brooklyn will offer 191 stylish guestrooms, a spectacular events space for up to 220 people, a stunning panoramic rooftop bar named Brooklyn Heights, and a restaurant named Runyon’s, taking derivative from the short stories and plays of Broadway titan, Damon Runyon. A time-warped homage to the Gilded Age of New York City, Hotel Brooklyn represents a hive of theatricality whilst throwing a subtle nod to the American promise of the New World.
Drama and marvel take centre stage, with guestrooms and interiors designed by Squid Inc. Having previously worked on Hotel Gotham’s award winning and iconic Art Deco aesthetic, the look and feel of Hotel Brooklyn vows to create a sense of wonder and innovation. As a brand-new £45 million site, the construction is also being overseen by Marshall CDP, who worked with Bespoke on Hotel Gotham too.
With city-chic vibes and a nonchalant urban atmosphere, the restaurant will feature an eclectic mix of furnishings across Hotel Brooklyn. Meanwhile, the hotel’s boutique bedrooms are spacious and glamorous, taking on soft grey hues and touches of caramel blush.
“Alongside its sister establishment, Hotel Gotham, Brooklyn is poised to take a starring role in Manchester’s luxury hospitality portfolio”, commented Robin Sheppard, Chairman of Bespoke Hotels. “It isn’t merely offering a bed for the night, but rather access to a hub of untamed, creative energy, flanked on all sides by the city’s dynamic nightlife and glamour.”
“We are tremendously excited to be deepening our relationship with the city of Manchester, through the launch of a new boutique property in its centre”, added Graham Marskell, Managing Director of Operations for Bespoke Hotels. “We have enjoyed an extremely positive response from the local market since launching Hotel Gotham, and we hope to maintain this momentum when Brooklyn opens its doors in early 2020.”
With the launch of Hotel Brooklyn, Bespoke Hotels are set to create over 100 new jobs in the city centre.
A former premise of the Midland Bank, Hotel Gotham is famed for its notoriously unusual neoclassical style. With a penchant for drawing attention to itself, Hotel Gotham hit the national news in 2010 when it was alleged that safe boxes had been discovered on-site, not only containing priceless jewellery, but also master tapes from Manchester’s Joy Division and New Order. Since opening its doors in April 2015, the establishment has welcomed a stellar guest list including Paloma Faith, Simon Cowell and Jenifer Hudson.
Formed in 2000, Bespoke Hotels has grown to represent over 200 properties worldwide, and now stands as the UK’s Largest Independent Hotel Group. Ranging from specialist golfing hotels, to award-winning spa resorts and chic city centre properties, the group prides itself on a diverse roster and a unique, individualised management style.
