Tucked away beneath the railway arches behind Victoria station, hides another in the growing list of Manchester bars that aren’t content with simply serving you drinks. This one, Base MCR, offers punters the chance to step up to the plate in one of the bar’s three batting cages – perfect for those coming from a tough day at work, or just looking to prove their machoness.
Housing groups of up to 5, visitors at Base MCR can choose between three iconic baseballing locations; Fenway Park, Wrigley Field or Yankee Stadium.
Speaking from our own experience, maybe save the pints until after if you’re hoping for a respectful score…
The low ceilings and makeshift recycled decor make the bar area an alluring combination of cosy and industrial, which made it an easy decision to stick around after our time in the cages was up.
With a decent selection of beers, frat-inspired cocktails and food like the ‘Coney Island’ hot dog on offer, there’s no need to worry about everyone being fed and watered.
With more and more openings popping up, the Redbank area is proving to be an appealing spot for those looking to escape the huge crowds while remaining a five minute walk from the Northern Quarter.
