It’s mid-week and you’re looking for the perfect date night spot for Saturday night, but where do you start? Social media; it’s all about the research.
There are so many ways to use social media to find what you’re looking for, be it romantic, fun, upscale or low key. Take Instagram’s location tags, for example: simply click on a user’s blue location tag under their name, which will take you to a page full of other people’s experiences of the same place, ranked by ‘Top’ or ‘Recent’ posts. This way, you get the most up-to-date information on that locale. Plus, you’ll get content from that particular spot’s account in the mix too. Bonus. Take a look at their posts, see if you like their vibe and read other customers’ comments – these are a good indication of what real people really think.
Another go-to way of finding that perfect spot is to actually manually search what you want into the search bar. A vague search like ‘Manchester’ will create more work for you, and you’ll need to do a bit more research to find specific restaurant and bar related content. Searching ‘restaurants in Manchester’, ‘bars’, even ‘date night spots’ will make your life a whole lot easier. You’ll find accounts and tags from people’s posts that will give you inspiration. It’s an easy way to lose time, one page lads to another and before you know it, you have too many options to choose from!
Our go-to is always Instagram, but recommendations on social media generally are a great way to find that ideal date spot. All of the main platforms now have their own way of asking a question – on Instagram you can add a question to your story, Facebook has recommendations and Twitter has polls, so ask around! Social media was built to be a community, so why not communicate.
Following establishments on social media certainly broadens your horizons. Follow that new bar in town, or the ‘best new pizza place’, and not only are you likely to see something special for date night, but you’ll also be in the loop for special offers and promotions. What better way to top off date night than with a complimentary glass of fizz? Similarly, following local celebrities is a sure fire way to find quality locations, because they wont be pictured just anywhere! Plus, you can bet that they’ll be out a lot, so you’ll see a lot of options.
Each social media platform has its own way to find date night spots, but it depends on how you view said potential spot. If imagery (of food, drink and the interior) plus some user reviews and/or comments are your way to grasp the feel of a place, then Instagram is your go-to. Pinterest is a great way to collate your inspiration into a board of ideas, if it’s photo inspiration that you’re after. For something more casual, it’s best to ask for recommendations on Facebook and on Twitter. Get your followers involved with a quiz!
So next time you’re out of ideas for date night spots, get online and never be out of inspiration again. Plus, get posting so we can all do the same!
